Saying "I Do" by the Ocean
Marsha Weeks and I attended the same high school but it wasn't until a wedding vendor mixer organized by Kristina Allen of Elysian Weddings & Events that we really met and chatted. Marsha is a wedding commissioner on PEI and her love for weddings is so contagious. I was absolutely honoured when she told me she would be adding my name to her website and giving my name to her clients as a wedding photographer. I was even MORE excited when one of her brides, Haley from Ontario, contacted me to discuss her upcoming elopement.
She and her husband-to-be Ryan, their son Jayce, and her immediate family would be travelling to the Island in June and wanted me to capture their special day. They had never been to the Island and were very excited to officiate their love here. They were staying in Cavendish and Haley wanted to have the ceremony on the beach nearby, as her dream had always been to get married by the ocean.
As the day approached, the forecast was calling for rain so they decided to rent a little gazebo situated on the North Rustico boardwalk. The gazebo and boardwalk offered the perfect venue for their elopement that included a knot-tying ceremony which their son also participated in.
After the ceremony, a first dance and some cake-cutting, we all headed down to the nearby beach to get some family and couple photos. I understandably couldn't resist getting several bridal shots, Haley was absolutely stunning against the Island's naturally beautiful background. The whole afternoon was very relaxed, touching and the rain didn't get in the way of any of it! When delivering the gallery, Haley expressed how much she missed the Island already and hoped to be back soon. I can't say that I blame her one bit!
